Share Your Screen with Support
Let Anchor support see your screen live while you chat, with typed values and private pages hidden.
When something on screen is hard to describe, you can let an Anchor support agent see your Anchor tab live while you chat. They can only watch: they cannot click, type or change anything.
Start sharing
- Open a chat with support (the chat bubble, bottom left).
- In the sidebar, click Share screen.
- Read what support will see, then click Share my screen.
- A blue bar appears at the bottom of the page with a 6-digit code. The agent sees the code next to your chat automatically; if they ask, read it out to them.
When the agent joins, the bar changes to Support is viewing your screen. Keep using Anchor as normal; the agent follows along.
What support sees
| Support sees | Support does not see |
|---|---|
| The Anchor page you are on, as you move around | Other browser tabs, other apps or your desktop |
| Your mouse pointer, scrolling and clicks | Anything you type in a form field (shown as *****) |
| Validation errors, drafts on screen and which page you are on | Passwords, two-factor codes and backup codes (shown as an empty box) |
| Settings → API keys, Email and Integrations: sharing pauses on these pages | |
| Card payments (Stripe) and PDF previews, which open in their own frame |
Nothing is recorded or stored. Your screen passes through Anchor's servers only while you share and is never saved.
Support can point
To show you where to click, the agent can point at part of the page. A blue ring appears on that spot for a few seconds. If it is off screen, a hint at the edge tells you which way to scroll. Pointing never clicks, types or changes anything for you.
Stop sharing
- Click Stop on the blue bar at any time.
- Sharing also ends on its own:
- if no agent joins within 10 minutes,
- 60 minutes after the agent joins,
- after 25 minutes without activity,
- or when the agent ends the session.
If you reload the page, sharing continues in the same tab. If you open Anchor in another tab, that tab shows that you are sharing and has a Stop button too.
Who can see my screen
Only Anchor support staff. Your accountant, bookkeeper and the other members of your organization cannot view your screen.
Each share is listed in Settings → Audit log as cobrowse_start and cobrowse_stop, so organization owners can see when screen sharing happened. See Audit log.
Privacy
Screen sharing is based on your consent, which you give each time you share. See the Privacy Policy for details.
