Purchase Requisitions
Let staff request a purchase, have it approved, and turn it into a purchase order.
A purchase requisition is an internal request to buy something. Once approved, it becomes a purchase order you send to the supplier. Requisitions live under Purchases → Requisitions and do not post anything to your books.
Create a requisition
- On Purchases → Requisitions, click New Requisition.
- Enter the Request Date, the Required By date, an optional Reference and Notes (why you need it).
- Under Line Items, add a description, Qty and estimated Unit Price for each item.
- Save. The requisition is a Draft.
Submit and approve
| Step | Button | Result |
|---|---|---|
| Request | Submit | Status becomes Submitted |
| Approve | Approve | Status becomes Approved |
| Reject | Reject | Status becomes Rejected, with an optional Reason shown on the requisition |
Drafts can be changed with Edit.
Approvers are admins and owners. Requisitions do not use the approval workflows under Settings → Approvals.
Create the purchase order
Open an approved requisition and click Create a purchase order. Anchor creates a PO for the requisition's supplier from its lines and marks the requisition Converted, with a View PO link.
Converting needs a supplier on the requisition, but the requisition forms do not have a supplier field yet (the page shows Supplier: Not assigned). A requisition created in the app fails with Requisition must have a contact to convert. Until this is fixed, create requisitions that need converting through an AI assistant connected to Anchor (MCP create_purchase_requisition with a supplier) or the API, or create the purchase order yourself from the approved lines.
Find requisitions
Filter by status (Draft, Submitted, Approved, Rejected, Converted), search, limit to a date range, and sort by date, amount or number.
