Stock Takes
Count your stock, compare it with your records, and post the difference.
A stock take compares what is physically on the shelf with what Anchor expects, then corrects quantity on hand and posts the value of any difference. Stock takes live under Inventory → Stocktakes.
Create a stock take
- Click New Stock Take.
- Enter a Name (for example Q1 2026 Full Count).
- Choose a Warehouse, or leave it empty to count all items across all warehouses.
- Add optional Notes and save. The stock take is a Draft with the items and their expected quantities.
Count
- Open the stock take and click Start Count. The status becomes In Progress.
- Enter the Counted quantity for each item. The Diff column and the counters (Matches, Discrepancies, Uncounted, Accuracy) update as you go.
- Turn on Blind Count to hide expected quantities from the person counting, so they record what they see.
- Filter by All, Uncounted, Matched or discrepancies, or search, to find items quickly.
If the rest of the items are correct, Confirm All sets every uncounted item to its expected quantity.
Finalize
Click Finalize & post. Anchor:
- sets quantity on hand to your counted quantities,
- posts the value of each surplus or shortage to your books (Inventory against Inventory Shrinkage),
- marks the stock take Completed.
This cannot be undone. Investigate large differences before you finalize.
Cancel or delete
Cancel stops a stock take without changing stock. Delete removes it.
Tips
- Count when nothing is being sold or received, or note the time you counted.
- Count one warehouse at a time if you have several.
- Have a second person recount items with large differences.
