Warehouses and Transfers
Track stock by location and move it between warehouses.
If you keep stock in more than one place (a shop and a store room, or two branches), set up each place as a warehouse. You can then see stock per location, count one location at a time, and move stock between them.
Set up warehouses
- Open Inventory → Locations and click New Warehouse.
- Enter a Name (for example Main Warehouse), a Code (for example WH-001) and an optional Address.
- Save.
Use Set Default on the warehouse that should receive stock when a document does not name one. The page shows how many warehouses are Active or Inactive, the Default Warehouse, and for each warehouse its items and stock value. Edit changes the details; Delete removes a warehouse permanently.
Move stock between warehouses
- Open Inventory → Transfers and click New Transfer.
- Choose the From and To warehouses.
- Under Items, add each item and the quantity to move.
- Add optional Notes and save. The transfer is a Draft.
- When the stock has arrived, open the transfer and complete it. Completing updates the stock at both warehouses and cannot be undone.
You can cancel a transfer that has not been completed. Transfers move quantities between locations only; they do not change the total value of your stock or post to your books.
The transfers list can be filtered by Draft, In Transit, Completed and Cancelled, and searched by warehouse name or code.
